John Jiles is an up and coming photographer here in Texas and I say Texas because he is all over the place, Houston, Dallas, Austin,  I wouldn’t be suprised if he hit El Paso!  His work caught my eye on Facebook a while back and since then I have followed his progression from an amatuer photographer to becoming a professional.  He currently interns with the Houston Chronicle as his day job snapping shots for the paper and making the associated press feed.

But let’s get down to the nitty gritty.  Recently John made it up to Dallas for CCM 7, or Cup Cake Meet 7, a lifestyle car show that has been building momentum throughout the years.  John was able to snap some great shots as well as edit a great video giving some highlights of the event.

We are hoping John’s work will become a staple here at ctxcarscene.com, so make sure to thrown some props his way!  May I can talk him into going to some road racing courses with me and we can do some shooting there

Once again its time for the *social* event of the year for the Texas import show community. All teams are invited and encouraged to come to this meet and greet with plenty of bbq and team antics. People not involved with teams are also welcome to come out and see what the scene is all about without having to worry about bringing out your ride in full blown show trim.

This year theres an added bonus: BBQ competition. Car show guys just can’t resist competition.

Many things are brewing in central Texas.  From great summer car gatherings, such as UpRev’s Dyno Day to the regular street meets around town to the recently announced Formula 1 Race Track.  Here at CTXRacing.com we are gearing up to bring you more coverage from all over the scenes.

As for myself, I am going to be moving to San Antonio over the summer as I have taken a job starting a convergent media program at the University of Incarnate Word.  My MGM is currently under the knife at Boost Logic getting a built 5.0 2V motor, I am shooting for around 450rwhp when things are all said and done, I will post updates.

So CTXRacing made it’s way out to the Texas Mile for the first time.  While many of us had gone as individuals or with race teams, we had never gone together.  For those who are not familiar with the event, check out their website, here is a brief overview:

“The Texas Mile has grown rapidly since our inaugural event in October 2003. Participants come from all edges of the United States, Canada and Mexico to test themselves and their motorized equipment on the fastest and most challenging 1-mile track in the world. They achieve their top speed in 1-Mile and shut down in a 1/2-Mile. This bi-annual Motorsports Festival is created for performance enthusiast – Welcoming Motorcycles, Performance Street Cars, Race Cars and Land Speed Racers.”

We saw so many great cars and the energy there is just amazing.  If you are ever able to make it out there you will not regret it, simply one of the best places to see some of the most exotic high horse power cars around.

UPDATE

–Also an update about Pipes (aka Mustang Nick’s) Mustang, he ran a 10.5 @ 136 at 18 PSI last week at San Antonio RaceWay, Congratulations!  He plans to turn the wick even more, so stay tuned!

We made our way out to Harris Hill Road in San Marcos and caught up with Chris S a well known track junkie, you might also find him around Lime Creek Road as well!

This is a special Track Edition CTXRacing.com Webisode. This episode came together randomly after a close friend of Joseph called and said he was taking his recently finished Terminator Mustang out to the track. Along with Kuro and Marc, Joey hopped in the Grand Marquis and made their way down to cover the action. When we arrived we figured it would probably be a great idea to also put down some numbers in Joseph’s Turbo Grand Marquis. The car has a full list of upgrades which include a custom made turbo kit that was fully fabricated by Marc (as in our Host) and the Boost Logic crew. It was definitely an eye catcher on the track and drew a good amount of attention as you can see in the video.
