I am proud to announce that CTXracing.com will now be featuring weekly news updates as to what is going on in and around Central Texas. We are proud to welcome Kuro Tawil, a local up and coming car media mogul. In just the few months of him working with us we have seen him grow into a true automotive journalist and much more. So make sure you keep an eye out for his articles.
To start off our weekly articles, I am going to talk about trip out to the October 2009 Texas Mile in Goliad, Tx. This was second time for me attending the event, the first being last March. You can read more about that adventure here. This time around Mr. Tawil made the voyage with me to help me garner more stories and media. We showed up on Thursday night to hang with the early birds and stayed until Saturday afternoon when the crowds became pretty overwhelming. To say the least the Texas Mile has various states of participation. You can go as an entrant, a crew member, media coverage or as a spectator. Usually on Thursday you mostly just have the Crews and Drivers there making runs which makes for a pretty interesting feel, everyone walks around and visits with each other. On Saturday though the crowds make their way in and it becomes a full blown event with cheers and much more.
If you have never been to such an event I highly recommended attending the Spring 2010 Texas Mile. Being a bi-annual event the Texas Mile is usually something you can make time for at least once a year. The people are great and sometimes it is just nice to go into the middle of no where and experience car culture at it’s finest.
Stay Tuned! We will be providing much more coverage over the coming weeks, from readers rides to dyno days to tracks days out at Harris Hill, even a maiden voyage to SEMA, Mr. Tawil and I will be providing coverage.
That said sit back and enjoy some photos and videos we captured while out at the Texas Mile:
